Intrinsically safe barriers are essential devices for ensuring protection in potentially explosive environments. These modules limit the electrical energy available in circuits, preventing the ignition of explosive atmospheres.

Types of intrinsically safe barriers:

  • Zener Barriers: These barriers use Zener diodes to limit voltage and resistors to limit current, with no galvanic isolation between safe and hazardous circuits. They require a reliable ground to function properly.
  • Isolated Barriers (Isolators): These devices provide galvanic isolation between circuits, eliminating the need for a dedicated ground and reducing the risks associated with potential differences. They are often preferred for their increased safety and ease of installation.
